The Kobold Endeavors: Kobold Candles In The Wind

It's a new neighborhood endeavor beginning today. This time it is the new Kobold themed one.

There are lots and lots of candles as decor rewards for the coupon crazy!  I want multiples of everything. Except for the THREE ROPES.  10 coupons each for rope.  Nope.   There is a somehow charming little "kabin" that's lit from the inside.  I'll be shrinking that and putting it on a curiosities shelf.  The candles themselves will be everywhere.

Salaryn's Sword Gaming Goals For September 2026

I like the month of September. It's a perfect bridge between summer and fall.  All of those apple recipes! (oops, wrong blog!)

Here is a nice distilled list of my gaming goals for the month of September. Also add to this list level my house to eleven. Ten came quick but I could only add two small rooms.  Pfft!

How Did She Know?

My sister in law somehow knew I'm temporarily in superhero mode.  She doesn't give birthday or Christmas gifts, but at random intervals she drops off huge bags loaded with (stuff).

This comic was in the current batch.  $4.99 for a comic, eek.  Also the paper is slick.  I gave my library of comics to my son when he got his own place, or I could check pricing and paper quality.  A comic should have a certain smell, that comes from that nice paper it used to be printed on.

Let me share my mother in law's phrase for passing on something to a child whilst everyone is still alive:  I warm handed my comics collection to him.  It will grow on you.

As for the story, it was OK. I'm used to comics and characters being way larger than life, and super dramatic about every single thing on the page.  This isn't that.

Screenshot Saturday 8/29/26

I can tell that I'm flagging in World of Warcraft, now that I'm settling into a life of Dailies and Reputation grinds.  I've many characters to level, and I always love that, but once I've done the same content say, ten times, it starts to wear a little.

What to do?  Intersperse my Wow gameplay with other game play.  Returning to a single player game you haven't played in a while should be simple.  However, you've got to retrain yourself to using the interface. You've got to figure out where you are and what you're supposed to be doing.

Looking at what I still have installed on Steam, here's yet another fine edition of Where I Left Them .

 Call of the Sea

What a gorgeous game. It's perfect for Screenshot Saturdays.  My character has been stuck in this encampment for a very long time. I've looked everywhere in the area and I can't see where to go next.  Clearly I've missed some document or something somewhere.  Dirty rotten cheater that I am, I'll have to look it up and see if I can get a walkthrough to nudge me past this area.

Dragon Age 2 and Veilguard

I wanted to look at this and Veilguard which is also installed, but ran into EA wanting me to sign into my Account with them.  I have a really old login, somewhere.   Disappointing.  Will obviously uninstall these if I can't play.

 Oblivion Remastered

This one is a stunner visually, though my character is frightening and her hair looks like seaweed.   She's only level 2. maybe I will re-start.

Fallout New Vegas

I installed this when season 2 of Fallout came on and haven't gotten far.  I'm supposed to meet Sunny Smiles behind the saloon, but became captivated by Easy Pete.

3 Minutes to Midnight

I did choose to start 3 Minutes to Midnight over from the start, as I was stuck in a garage in the previous play through and couldn't get out.   Not quite in the mood for this one right now but will leave it installed.

 Mass Effect Legendary Edition

I had this installed but hadn't played at all.  Somehow I missed the character creation options so I've got this wild eyed creepy girl till I do a proper restart.  Graphically the game is beautiful.   I'm starting with Mass Effect One, of course.

Today's To Do List 8/28/26

Here's the Training Dummy you get at the end of the Windrunner Spire dungeon.  It's natural size is smaller, but some things look better at their maximum size.   I went through the Windrunner Spire Dungeon last night for the first time.  It, like most current day dungeons, seemed to go on forever.  I recall thinking "I've been playing for half an hour and we aren't even at the first boss."   There are four bosses in that dungeon.  Yes, I'm doing Follower dungeons to be sure to get the Decor piece at the end, but still.  I'm thinking of sending my Blood Elf Paladin in to get one for her house.

This morning I made a list of what I'd like my characters to do.  Preferably this evening. Or sometime this week.

I need a boatload of Ghost Iron so I can have my Druid Transmute it into Living Steel for my Inscriptionist's Pandaria Decor.

Ath needs to do Neighborhood Dailies and Coiled Isle Fishing Dailies.

My L90 Warlock needs to do two Arcantina Quests, though I'm guessing the one in the Broken Isles is still bugged.  I also finally noted that an NPC in Silvermoon gives dungeon quests and you can get 1k Rep with any of four factions.   By chance she already needs to go in the Maisara dungeon as part of the quest line to get to the Coiled Isle.  Hate that dungeon too, agh.

My main Paladin needs to catch up so she can try the new Story Mode version of the Ula'tek dungeon.

My Engineer struggles on in Kul Tiras trying to level Engineering.   Need a million Monelite and Storm Silver Ore.  At 128 and need 140.   There are new recipes at 130 but each wants 15 Expulsom each. Mommy.  I want my mommy.

Legion The Monk Order Hall: work on getting the three (?) new monks I've created to Dalaran and through the Monk opener and trial to get their weapons.  Worst of the Order Hall Sequences.  Round object buster, I say.

Seeing that at House Level 10 the Last Architect will offer a way to get exciting new decor from deep in his vaults.   Scooting along on the house leveling, should be at 10 by Saturday or Sunday.

My Blood Elf Paladin added onto her second floor in an absolute labyrinth.  She's got a much better Alchemy lab setup now, and can accomodate the green slimy things I'm picking up in the Coiled Isles, but need Housing Coupons to buy her Green Rugs pronto from the Amani Endeavor vendor in town.   Before Tuesday.

Busy busy, busy.

I've been working on producing more wall of text posts, hope you're staying awake till the end!

Over My Paygrade

I had the clever idea of re-installing Morrowind and creating a new Salaryn Warrior character. Morrowind is where the name originates.

So easy!  The whole purpose was to make the new character and get a couple of screenshots.  Steam overlay, that mythical beast, somehow can't automatically overlay!  You have to dig around in the Morrowind installation files and change a zero to a one, then yo!   NOPE!  I tried it! I used to be so comfortable rooting around in configuration files.  Now, it's EEP!

I did make the change and still no shot of Nord warrior Salaryn.  I don't think she was a Nord the first time around.  The characters are a blocky fright (take my word for it). But the game itself, though I spent a small amount of time in it today, remains a wonder.

I'll have to ask Mr Programmer to look at it for me.  Then the great and terrible Salaryn Andelmist gets another post.

Speaking of posts!  I had been struggling to get ten posts a month on my game blog, and this post makes a total of 37 for August.  Go go go!

Sal's Pointy Notes 8/26/26

Wow Various

Razorwind Shores has had an extra vendor for decor, though it's gone today. First it was the Grummlies in case a person needed more coffee cups.  Then, yesterday, as I took down my whole outside garden  (Alliance side) and decided that bits of Loamy Soil from the Niffen would make nice rows for corn, pumpkins, and blueberries to grow in, there was a Niffen vendor and I got six, my poor Horde character only having six coupons. When I raced back today for more, the vendor was gone. :(

I've been doing the daily neighborhood quests on the Alliance side, and have a monumental 209 coupons.  Only five days till the Endeavor switch, so I must be strong and not spend them.  They burn a hole in my pocket, they really do.

Noting the Renown Vendor on the Coiled Isle sells what looks suspiciously like a pine tree. They might even call it a Pine Tree.  Everyone wants a Christmas tree who celebrates Christmas, but it is gated behind your having completed the new Raid.  Hmm, like all of the nice paintings in the game are gated behind a raid.  Easy to do if you're in a raiding guild, or are brave enough to try LFR.  Dunno.

This week's Arcantina quest is bugged. You're sent to the Broken Shore to go through a portal, sneaking around inside a ship to gather items.  When you try to enter the portal, it pops you right back out.  I saw it happening to others as well.  Might want to fix that.

Lanterns

In episode two, spoiler alert, the plot thickens and there are indeed aliens in the small Nebraska town of Rushville!  More than one kind of alien, even.   There's a bit more pushback from John towards Hal's bad treatment of him.  With only eight episodes I don't see how the two of them come to work together as long as Hal is such an a&$.  ( I swear like a sailor and more, but don't like to write the words, isn't that a hoot.)

The Witcher 3 Remaster

I'm still back struggling with the Witcher 1 against the advice of my son, who always said just jump ahead to 3, it's much better.   With a free remaster coming to current owners of 3, on September 29, I'm going to load that up on Steam so I'm ready to jump in.  It does look great in the video above.

Robocop Reboot with Dan Stevens

What do we think of Dan Stevens in a Robocop reboot?  Yay!   I liked the first one best, of course, but watched them all, back in the day.  Dan Stevens is a wonderful actor, I just love him. He's a perfect core of humanity for whatever the Robocop of today's tomorrow may bring.
