Secret World Legends : Disassemble the Occult Attractor

While I could go across country following the games tidy arrow to your next destination, I try to follow a road to lessen jump scares and crowd attacks.

The Occult Attractor looks innocuous enough.  The area nearby is full of wanderers.

Every time you try the wrong decoding sequence, something is attracted.

I felt I had the sequence right but these guys kept popping up. Finally, the little musical notes that let you know you've completed your mission sounded.

Immediately the waypoint for the next Mission "Tresspassers" with an objective "Find Old Tom".  I'm just working on one mission at a time so I made my way along the road to a safe place.

I do love the maps in this game.

Secret World Legends At The Junkyard, Barrels Placed

I took the recommended screen resolution but the toolbar and all printed text and icons are really small.  The barrels were right there on my toolbar!

Tier 2 completed with ease.

Thanks to a video I watched, I knew right where the Tier three barrels were.  Problematically for me, who doesn't like things creeping up on me from behind, the junkyard patrol bots were nearby.

Aside from this, the  mobs were getting too close to the barrier and damaging it, so I hopped out into the middle of them and bam!   I was doing well till this guy showed up.  I got him before he nailed the barrier though.  Just barely.

Next up, Men In Black Vans Tier 4.

Testing out a cipher program.  Here's the cipher to unscramble.  It's from a Wow Midnight Quest.   I've used the puzzle generator before but hmmm, not so sure its working right.  Try anyway!  Enjoy.

Secret World Legends Still at the Junkyard, With The Barrels

This game still looks so good.  F11 to take screenshots.  In theory, F to interact.  I'm picking up green barrels, though, and I can't set them down by any of the four nearby barricades.   Figuring out the controls is half the battle.

I thought I was farther along than this, but maybe I got stuck and backtracked to complete some things I hadn't done through all three tiers.

I'm scared as always, thanks to ambient noises and the way monsters here rush up on you, usually in groups of five.

Good times.

World of Warcraft: Characters In Play

I hop between characters all the time.  These are the ones I'm currently playing:

90 Druid Doing the Opening Quests for The Curse of Ula'tek, which releases August 11.

81 Engineer  Working on Kul Tiran Engineering leveling for the Decor Recipes for this era.  This means mining and more mining for Monelite and Storm Silver ore.  While I'm at it I'm doing World Quests that give War Resources.  These buy me more Kul Tiran Decor from vendors, plus the World Quests count toward the Travelogue and Endeavor totals.

81 Warrior  Working to get Twilight Highlands Wildhammer Reputation to Honored to get one last item.

90 Warlock  My most Powerful character is taking on the Arcantina quests.  They seem to appear infrequently? I've just done three and am hanging out hoping for more.  New ones are coming with next month's patch.

Wow's Emote System : More Than Chickens and Trains

There's always someone, somewhere using the /train emote in World of Warcraft.   There's also /chicken.  I knew there must be more so I finally looked it up!

https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_emotes

 How useful, you say.

Not all emotes have animations to go with them.  Atherne tested a few in the pouring rain just for you.

Train

Chicken

Beg

I also tried Challenge and Highfive for this test with no animations at all displayed for those, just a line or two in chat to represent the emote.

What in God's name do I plan to do with these?  Thanks for asking.   I plan to get pictures of the emotes that aren't gross, and capture them on a sunny day.  Then, I have a library of my character with different expressions I can use in comics I create in Microsoft Word (can be done).   Because I'm the only one of eight kids in the family who can't draw, and it is so unfair.   Because I like cartoons :)

You, the reader, are endlessly entertained.  So good, right?

Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror TV and Films Watched in 2026 So Far

I meant to do a top five, but then as usual, I couldn't pick just that many, so here's all the genre shows from 2026 that aren't mysteries I've watched and (mostly) enjoyed.  A few started in 2025, but if they trailed into this year I list them.  Also there are older shows that crop up I haven't seen.  Listed here!  Could be spoilers, reader beware.

 Fallout Season 2

While there was plenty to enjoy in this season, it wasn't as fun as the first.  A few storylines dragged out and that phrase "lost the plot" is right on.  Unlike the first season, which was released all at once, this one came out once a week.

I've watched season one 8+ times and season two only once.  I'm hoping that once I view it in a quicker sequence,  (binge the episodes as they were meant to be binged) it will fall together better.   Season 3 is being filmed as we speak.

Project Hail Mary

The book was better.  I felt that they skipped over quite a bit of the story fueled by Grace's shock at finding himself alone, in space, with no idea how he got there, or what he should do to survive.   I pictured Rocky as more spider like.  I'm not sure Ryan Gosling was a good choice to play the character.  Despite all of that, there was much to like.  Amaze, amaze, amaze!

 Star Fleet Academy

This show was much better than anticipated, and as a lifelong Star Trek fan, I think they presented a new Trek experience, with many excellent characters.  I'm glad they already had season two filmed, since it was shocking for the show to be canceled after season one had just finished airing.

Jumanji Welcome To The Jungle

This was unexpectedly hilarious, I thought, as four teens enter a game world, but their avatars are all grown up people who look and sound nothing like their real selves.   Well plotted for a game based story, as those get messed up more often than not.

 School Spirits

Maddie unexpectedly dies in the school basement and finds herself trapped on the school grounds with an assortment of ghosts from other times.  She's determined to solve her murder, even though she'll still be dead, and still be trapped.  The show is spooky rather than all out horror.  The characters are great.

War Machine

Rip roaring action, that's what I'm talking about.  It starts off with a man joining the Army Rangers to honor his brother.   A field test for a bunch of recruits goes awry when they try to blow up a downed ship they've been assigned to destroy, but oops, it's an alien ship.  Boom boom, run run run!  Loved it.

 Paradise

I didn't watch this when it first came out, but now I'm caught up and ready for the next season.  Season one was super clever in unfolding the story so you didn't realize, Spoiler Alert, that everything you see is taking place in an underground bunker of a city, after apocalyptic events occur.   It's such a perfect city. Except for murders, assassinations and folks disappearing.

Jurassic World Rebirth

It might take me a year or two, but I eventually watch all of the Jurassic Park movies.  A group of mercenaries led by bad ass Zora Bennett (Scarlet Johansson) take scientists to the forbidden Ile Saint- Hubert to gather dinosaur samples.  Lots of jump scares, chases and narrow escapes (for some).  Fine Jurassic form except for a side story about a family all indignant that their boat was capsized by a dinosaur.  Wah wah.

Stranger Things Final Season

Loved it till the last episode and the Fate of 11.  Vowed not to watch anything more by the Duffer brothers.  I'm still mad.

The Boroughs

I only watched this show because of the cast.  I especially love Alfred Molina.  Steenkin Duffer brothers did a great job here.  In a remote retirement community, residents watch out for each other but also are ready for a knives to the back situation if need be.  It's one of those ideal communities, except, little by little it's a horror show, with very nasty things creeping out at night.  Despite great ratings, Netflix canceled the show after this initial season.

La  Brea

Totally wacky premise--the tarpits open to reveal a giant chasm which swallows cars and buildings and people.  Families are separated.  Shockingly, those who fell down the hole wake up uninjured in the grass near fallen cars and signs and building bits.   Those left on the surface try to find a way to rescue those who fell, though why they'd think that would be possible is a question.

What works is the story unfolding both on the surface and below.  Lots of mysteries to be solved.  I got to halfway through season two and paused and haven't gone back to finish, I'm not sure why.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season 4

Pike is the best of all the Captains.  That's really all that needs to be said.  I hate that the series ends with season 5, which has already been filmed and it's done.   Meanwhile, the current season has just begun, and the first episode was pretty great, a callback to an original Trek episode.  I might as well opine that Ethan Peck is the best of all the Spocks.  I will miss him terribly, along with most of the cast of this series.

The Continuing Adventures

I'm having the best time pouring through old files.  Above is a character from EQ2, I think.  It's a game I've always wanted to play through, but I tend to get bogged down in the starting areas trying to figure out where to go next.  I should load it on my laptop and try concentrating on a single character until I figure out how things work.  It should be the owner of my little apartment in Qeynos, right?

Salaryn's Sword, the reboot will be a little different than my usual gaming blog.  First, I'm going to go full retro digging up the old stuff while still writing about the game of World of Warcraft as I now play it.

I only plan on one regular feature, Screenshot Saturday.

10 Posts a month remains the goal.

I'm going to add posts about Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror films, TV and Books.   The themes of these fit perfectly with the types of games that appeal to me.

For any pre-written posts, post time will be 5:30 pm Central Time.  Like this one!  Happy Gaming!

Screenshot Saturday 7/25/26

Good evening!  Welcome to a rare Screenshot Saturday on a Saturday!   I've been combing my files for any trace of the old Salaryn's Sword.  I found the 2009 Pointy Sword Awards!  Yay!  These were wildly popular back in the day, truly.
